What’s up with this ball?!?!?!?

I bought a box of junk yesterday and I found one of the weirdest things. It’s a glass ball about the size of the a pool ball and it had a light purple/violet color. I held it all through the day and once I was about to leave I put it in my purse. A couple of hours later I pulled it out of my purse and found it was an icy blue clear color. My sister and mother thought it was since it got cold and just changed colors, but we placed it in a cup of steaming water and it stayed the same color. Then we went into our kitchen and saw it went back to it’s original color. The lighting in our kitchen is the same in the rest of the house, so it couldn’t have been that. So if you have any answers or ideas, please post them. Thanks a lot!!!

What you mostly likely have is what is known in the antiques world as a weather ball. Your best bet is to take it to an antiques dealer with clear photos of the other colors if you can get it to change again. usually they will tell you about an item you have if all you want is information.
