Summer Fantasy

Summer Fantasy
What are some good historical-fiction and fantasy books to read this summer?

I want to read some more fantasy, similar to the First Law Trilogy, and historical-fiction, something along the lines of The Accursed Kings, The Three Musketeers, and the Teutonic Knights…

More adult level books* please.

I’m not much into the war and battles type of historical novel; but there are a few I’d recommend.

Azincourt, by Bernard Cornwell, shows the whole Henry V / Battle of Agincourt invasion of France in the early 1400′s from the perspective of an English archer whose family has a shooting feud with another family from his village. I found it a page turner.

and the Emperor trilogy of books by Conn Iggulden – about Julius Caesar’s rise to power “The Gates of Rome”, “The Death of Kings”, and “The Field of Swords”

If your library has a large collection of classic novels, or you can raid a huge used bookstore, you might want to look for Alexandre Dumas’ other stories about the Musketeers, “Twenty Years After” and “The Man in the Iron Mask” . Also Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Lost World” – which is finding a dinosaur land during an expedition to South America
