What Is The Amount Of Cholesterol In Eggs?

Eggs are consumed mainly at breakfast, but are some of the most common ingredients used in the preparation of daily meals. These foods are rich in vitamins, protein and fat. A single egg contains more than 6 g of protein and many nutrients that help our body to work properly. But what’s the level of cholesterol in eggs? Well, a single egg contains about 212 mg of cholesterol. Since the daily amount of cholesterol in the body must not exceed 300 mg, most people avoid these foods.

However, experts advise us not to give up eggs because most of the cholesterol level is produced in the liver and the cholesterol from the food consumed doesn’t have a major impact on blood vessels, as people think. Also, we can consume an egg every day, without risking our health.

The egg is a very complex food, providing only 80 calories. It contains eight essential amino acids and quality protein. Eggs are very balanced in protein, but poor in carbohydrates and vitamin C. Unlike meat, eggs are rich in the vitamins A, B, D and E and minerals- iron, selenium, magnesium, zinc.

When a person is allergic to eggs, his immune system releases a series of chemicals to protect the body. These substances can affect the respiratory system, the gastrointestinal tract, the skin and cardiovascular system, causing allergy symptoms such as wheezing, nausea, headache, abdominal pain and itching. Most allergic individuals react to proteins in egg whites, but there are also people who can not tolerate proteins in the yolk.

The cholesterol is a complex of substances found in every cell of the liver, being indispensable for the human body. An increased level of cholesterol favors the development of cardiovascular diseases, stroke and ischemic cardiomyopathy.

It is important to prepare eggs in the right way, in order to take advantage of their benefits. Boiled eggs are healthy as long as we don’t consume them along with cheese, butter and other foods rich in fat. People who suffer from hypercholesterolemia shouldn’t consume more than 3 eggs per week. Their diet must be based on vegetal fibers.

A study conducted in the U. S on 912 volunteers, concluded that eggs have no impact on the level of cholesterol in blood. Also, these products are not responsible for ischemic cardiovascular diseases. There are doctors who forbid the consumption of eggs in patients who suffer from hypercholesterolemia and doctors who state that these foods can be consumed anytime.
