Serving a dish in “hot and steamy” format?

I was given a gift of four iron bowls (about 5″ diameter) resting in a wood serving-plate (about 7″ in diameter). I wish to serve dishes to my family similar to that which is brought to the table at restaurants – where the food is hot with steam arising — sizziling.

(Hope I have accurately portrayed the picture).
Perhaps a better word is “sizzle”.

The dish sizzles as the waiter brings it to the table. How to achieve this effect?

fajitas are usually served that way, or you can make tapas- spanish style ‘small plates”
