Relish Dish

Relish Dish
Need a relish dish recipe? Help!!!?

I was asked to bring a relish dish with pickles and olives to a Thanksgiving gathering. I really need to impress. I know nothing of it though. Dont even know what it is. My family never did anything close to fancy dishes. Recipe anyone? Please? She said with olives and pickles, never heard of it.

Here is what you do , step by step.

1. Go to the store, if you can, go to a good grocery store where you are likely to find a selection of wonderful preserves. Buy a selction of different olives and a few jars of pickled peppers, like Pepperdews and have a look at what else they have in terms of savory preserves. Buy what you need, be creative! Remember, preserves dont get rotten so you can watch for great special offers and store them until thanksgiving.

2. Now tha tyou have the olives and pickles out the way, closer to the time you should go down to the store and get a selection of different cheese – cheese goes super with pickles and olives! Pick up some crackers aswell.

The firm ones like Gouda, Cheddar and Mozzarella can be cut into little sticks which go wonderful with pickles and you can include a few ‘fancy’ cheeses like a little block of Creamy Blue and a block of Brie – but dont cut up these cheeses, place them whole onto the platter.

3 – Now, when your ready to go to thanksgiving, cut the firm cheeses into sticks and put into a small container. then get out a platter that is quite large, and find a few small bowls that can be placed on the platter. pack these things into a basket along with all the ingredients (cheeses, pickles, olives) and make sure they are all safe and ready to travel in the car!

4. When you arrive at thanks giving – slip to the kitchen, take out your platter, put the small bowls onto the platter and fill the bowls with olives, preserves, pickles, peppers ECT and arrange the cheese sticks and crackers around the bowls, be sure to place the ‘fancy’ cheese in a spot that can be easily accesed by the guests, and put a small knife on the platter with it. You can decorate with some lettuce leaves and cherry tomato if you like

The reason i say that you should assemble the platter once you arrive, is to prevent spilling and ruining in the car!
Have fun and be creative!
