Which precious metal has best qualities, platinum or gold?

I was just wondering, like in jewelry, which would be the best?

Platinum is generally rarer and higher priced. In addition to jewelry, it has industrial uses, particularly catalytic converters for autos.

Gold is attractive, tends not to tarnish, and can be worked to extremely thin layers. Makes it especially desirable for any decorative application. It has many centuries as an object of desire.
