Can you substitute molasses for maple syrup?

I’m baking chai tea muffins and the recipe calls for a half cup of maple syrup. I just discovered I don’t have that much syrup and don’t have enough time to run to the store. However, I just purchased molasses and wondered if I could substitute the syrup for the molasses.

Molasses and maple syrup are very, very different – I definitely don’t recommend substituting one for the other. Do you have any honey? That might work (in a smaller quantity).
