Diego Velasquez, An Example of Spain’s Most Notable Artists

Artwork is seen mostly as a method of expression, however, painting has various forms and style; other aesthetic compositions, as well as abstract painting may convey an ethereal meaning that the painter wants to convey. Surrealistic, realistic, abstract and other types of movements have already come and gone; paintings have also served many different purposes throughout history; from personal to political.

Spain has been famous for the paintings in its museums and collection of unique artifacts and artistic objects like sculptures, prints, drawings and a number of similar things. If you desire to gaze at those paintings and really think highly of them them, the only way to accomplish that is pack your bags and go to Spain. El Siglo de Oro or Spain’s Golden Age was when most of Spain’s best painters emerged; they have composed some of the most brilliant paintings in the world. It is also during that generation when one painter named Diego Velasquez became most famous and considered as the most sought after and highly respected master. Velasquez could be considered as Spain’s most well-known and revered masters who has produced many notable and admirable paintings.

Born in a minor nobility family back in June 5, 1599 and the eldest in a brood of six, Diego Velasquez showed greatness as a young artist at a very early age. He showed some ability in painting and at the age of eleven, he was granted an apprenticeship in the studio of the great Francisco Pacheco who trained him and helped him hone his skills as a painter. He chose as his wife Pacheco’s daughter and continued his paintings that have been his way to earn money; his themes are mostly religious and still life paintings of tavern pieces and he was able to sell his paintings and accumulate a lot of money which he used to buy a comfortable house for them and another house to be rented out.

Diego Velasquez created many of unique paintings that made him famous and an example of the country’s most influential personalities. The Marques de Spinola himself was shocked at the magnificence of realism illustrated in the painting The Surrender of Breda; the amount of details that went into painting the expression on every face, the threads of the fabrics, the tint on the skin, and everything about the painting was just magnificent. However, Diego Velasquez would create another masterpiece that is regarded the greatest piece he has done which is Las Meninas or TheMaids in Honour; it is the most viewed painting in the world and even most people that are not familiar with Spanish painters knew his name because of Las Meninas.

Diego Velasquez is truly a national treasure, and it is without a doubt that his method had influenced the way artists of today will see the art of painting.

Disney’s 1977 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh may be the last word on (animated) Pooh because it so faithfully honors the first word on Pooh, penned in the 1920s by British storyteller A.A. Milne. Gently paced, subtly humorous, and blessedly understated, this adaptation reflects Walt Disney’s original vision to develop the beloved British bear for a wider audience. The film is essentially a…
