Devon Vacations And The City Of Exeter
When the majority of folk discuss having a vacation in the UK they nearly always just think about resorts near to the sea such as Blackpool, Bognor Regis, Torquay and Weston-super-Mare. Occasionally folk may think about taking a short break in a specific county in England for example Devon in the south of England but rarely do they think about having a short break in the city of Exeter. The following article discusses various factors why an Exeter vacation is a cool idea.
One of the first reasons for taking a short city break in Exeter is that the accommodation is amazingly cheap with bed and breakfast in Exeter available from around twenty five pounds per night and lots of places around the forty to fifty pounds mark.
Of course you will need more than a minimal price to attract you to visit a city and Exeter definitely has loads to offer the potential tourist. You will find that there are many top notch visitor attractions in the center of the city and even more near by and if that is not enough then Plymouth is but a short distance and you will discover that there is also cheap accommodation in Plymouth and even more brilliant visitor attractions. Also you will find that there are plenty of astounding sites to see all along the nearby coast.
Where To Stay In Exeter
The Drewe Arms
This hotel is excellent, it’s rooms are cheap but the building is a beautiful 17th century thatched inn on the Two Moors Way (a walkers route). Unfortunately it is 15m away from Exeter’s city center. If you require more luxury the inn also features four-poster rooms.
The Crawford Hotel
This accommodation is far closer to Exeter city center, about 1.6 km. It is a 2 star establishment with reasonable en suite rooms and, crucially, twenty four hour access to your room, which is superb if you are planning to have a long night out or if you will be needing to access the room during the day. There is there is Free wireless internet access in public areas of the hotel.
Tourist Attractions
In Exeter there are only a small number of visitor attractions which merit your time including; Rougemont Castle, the Royal Albert Museum and St Peter’s Cathedral. As mentioned earlier in this article there is a small selection of close by seaside towns to visit the most beautiful being the pretty villages of Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton.
Further away, in between Exeter and Plymouth is the virtually unpopulated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the overall area having a fair few visitor attractions worth visiting including Buckfast Abbey, Buckland Abbey and A La Ronde on the main route, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass by the Torbay area, which consists of Paignton, Brixham and Torquay and is often referred to as the English Riviera region.
Exeter truly is a superb place in which to have a vacation but why not have a think about having a twin destination vacation and spend a couple of nights in a really plush Plymouth hotel and tour the spectacular countryside and coast in between the two excellent vacation destinations?
