Bjorn Wiinblad has been beloved in both his native Denmark and abroad. Bjorn Wiinblad’s creativity lent itself to glass, porcelain, interior design, ceramics, and illustrations. Vibrant colors and festive moods are the hallmark of this unique Scandinavian artist’s work.
German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal here is a wonderful Studio-Linie wall-plate designed by the legendary Danish designer, Bjorn Wiinblad. Part of the ‘Aladin’ range this plate is number 9 in the series. Featuring charming and unmistakeably Wiinblad illustrations on a dark blue ground embellished with brightly colored glazes and sumptuous gold highlights these are collectable and obviously extremely decorative items. Fully marked to the base in gold and signed with Bjorn Wiinblad’s signature to the front.
Bjorn Wiinblad was born in Copenhagen 1918. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Rosenthal China of Germany and Nymolle Pottery of Denmark are among the more famous companies that commissioned him to design for them. His works can be found in museums all over Europe. He has also designed scenery for the Royal Danish Ballet and illustrated books and posters. He now resides twelve miles outside of Copenhagen in the town of Hjortekaer.
