A Tranquil Pagoda
Six Harmonies Pagoda, can be said be one of the truly early architectural masterpieces of China still standing tall and strong. First constructed during the Northern Song Dynasty and then after it was destroyed in 1121 AD reconstructed by the Southern Song Dynasty the Liuhe Pagoda as its known has been fascinating travelers for many years.
Reaching a height of over 195 feet and consisting of 13 inner stories and based on the six ordinance of Buddhism, Liuhe Pagoda is claimed to have been built for mainly two reasons. First of them being, as an aid for ships and cargo boats navigating the river Qiantang when it was an economical hub and the second being to calm the raging Qiantang Rivers from its frequent tidal waves.
Being influenced by many dynasties throughout the years has caused it to be an immensely historically enriched pagoda and surrounding area. Being decorated with art works of various flowers, shapes and animals on the inside walls and stone writing and scriptures regarding Buddhism and Chinese culture found all around, it has captivated travelers who visit this place for many years.
Being of an Octagon shape and surrounded by shrines and bells the surroundings of this site has a calming feeling to it. With the many structures to view and discover, a visit to the Six Harmonies Pagoda is a treat for any traveler.
