Trying to find 3 metaphors in Robert Frost’s Birches!!?
I think i’ve found two:
Soon the sun’s warmth makes them shed crystal shells
Shattering and avalanching on the snow crust—
Such heaps of broken glass to sweep away
To the top branches, climbing carefully
With the same Pains you use to fill a cup
Up to the brim, and even above the brim
but i can’t find a third one!
i’m sure the part about the girls and their hair is a similie, but i need a metaphor. help!

I think a significant metaphor is not about the girls: you’re right, that is a simile.
I think the significant metaphor begins when Frost writes:
“I’d like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over…
…
“I’d like to go by climbing a birch tree,
And climb black branches up a snow white trunk
Toward (<--italicized) heaven, tilll the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good, both going and coming back.'
(the metaphor being the poet leaving earth (outta here) and beginning again (a rebirth of sorts) by 'swinging a birch tree...' )
