Albert Provincial

Why was Alberta wanting to separate in the 80s?
here is what i know so far.
The world was recovering from en energy crisis. Canada wanted the oil from alberta to be owned by the federal government, instead of the provincial government. Canada was trying to take advantage of the lower oil prices. Since Ontario had the most seats in Parliament, they, along with fellow Eastern province Quebec, got to make these decisions Albert felt ignored, and decided to strike. They would send 180 000barrels less of oil to the East.
You are completly true. There is nothing to add to this.
