Albert Celebration

London events that the rock community needs to keep an eye on
Here’s afew of the events that are happening in London that you may want to keep an eye out on.
- London’s international music show 2009. Going from the London Guitar Show up to upgrading to a full on music expo. This will be the biggest year yet, with additions of Drummer live, unplugged and Sound recording technology show all thrown into the mix to provide the biggest music event yet. With a masterclass from legendary guitarist Steve Vai and blues hero Albert Lee on guitar and Iron Maiden’s Nikko McBrain and Journey’s Steve Smith forming the drumming section to make sure this event returns next year as well. Taking place at London’s Excel Arena from June 11th to the 14th.
- Nine Inch Nails. This has to been seen by all fans of Trent Reznor. Possibly the final NIN in the UK before they take their break, it could be the UK’s last chance to see them for a very long time. Taking to the road with them will be Jane’s Addiction, the 90′s rock band on the ‘NINJA’ tour -anyone smart enough to see what they’ve done there? For those who dont want to pay the £170 to go to Sonicsphere, but want to see NIN. O2 arena on July 15th.
- Motorhead. The icons of classic rock Motorhead return to the UK in November to tear the place up. Rock and roll’s most hardworking band returns to destroy your eardrums with ‘killed by death’, ‘Iron fist’ and ‘Overkill’ -did i miss one out. Expect choas from the ‘world’s loudest band’ as Motorhead come to town to show London how a rock gig should be done. With Girlschool, Motorhead’s notorious touring buddies who will rock harder than any male band out there joining them this is going to be a chaotic event onstage at least. November 28th at the Hammersmith Appollo- well it is Motorhead.
- The Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards. Taking place exactly after the Download festival, do you need more of a reason to make your weekend longer? With performances at the awards fom Devildriver, Amon Amarth, Anvil, Saxon and Trivium, its worth going to just to extend the festival weekend. Taking place June 15th at the Indigo 2 venue.
